Who is accountable
Alan Hewitt, President, is responsible for the data APIA publishes and answers for any error in it.
APIA is governed by a committee of three members under the Model Rules. The full committee is recorded on the public register maintained by Consumer Protection (WA), which anyone may search.
In practice this is one person’s work. The other two committee members provide the governance an incorporated association requires; they do not direct APIA’s projects or review them day to day. That is worth saying plainly, because “a committee of three” implies more institutional weight than exists, and a reader who worked it out later would be entitled to wonder what else had been oversold.
It also matters less than it might. Nothing APIA publishes asks you to trust the organisation. Every figure is computed by published code from published data, every row links to the official record it came from, and the method is published alongside it — including what it cannot see. If something is wrong, it is wrong in a way you can demonstrate, which is a better guarantee than a larger committee would be.
Funding
APIA is self-funded by its founder and has received no external funding to date.
If that changes, this page will say so and name the source. We would rather tell you than have you find out.
Corrections
Every dataset APIA publishes carries its sources and its method, so you can check our working.
If you find an error, write to info@apia.org.au with “correction” in the subject line. We will check it, fix it if we are wrong, and record what changed — so corrections are visible rather than silent.
Conflicts of interest
APIA operates under the Model Rules, which govern the circumstances in which any payment may be made to a committee member. Committee members declare personal interests in matters before the committee, and any such payment is approved by the committee and recorded in the minutes.
